Prediction Thursday Round 2: More chaos?

Round 1 was chaotic, it’s a high bar to reach. But this is the Dub where anything can happen.

Western United v Central Coast Mariners

Mariners caused an upset last time out and I’m gonna back them in again.

Western United had the sauce to fight back against a determined Wellington last week but the Mariners stingy defence will be a different matter.

Bucking the trend of last week, it’ll be a single goal game.

Result: Mariners win 1-0

Melbourne Victory v Melbourne City

Friday might not bring the chaos, but Saturday afternoon will. Two sides who haven’t quite got things working properly off the ball, but fortunately are happy to square up in a shoot off.

Purely the Alex Chidiac factor will be Victory’s well-known weapon and difference maker to give them the edge to win.

Result: Victory win 4-2

Brisbane Roar v Sydney FC

Traditionally the ultimate grudge match and expect another niggly game here.

Neither side has found their feet so far but the roar of the home support could be enough to tip Brisbane over the edge. Sydney will finish with a consolation goal to bring the match alive in the final 15 minutes.

Result: Brisbane win 2-1

Wellington Phoenix v Canberra United

Back in front a New Zealand crowd and Wellington will have a point to prove after no doubt being cheesed off coming away pointless last time out.

So long as they can handle the pace of Canberra’s counters, the Nix just need to put their opportunities away. I’m going to back them for learning from last weekend’s mistakes.

Result: Wellington win 1-0

Western Sydney Wanderers v Adelaide United

Expect end to end, spread like butter on toast type of game. Both sides showed they can lead a match, but not that they can hold it.

The experience will be one both will grow from but not today. It’ll be a tit-for-tat affair with a last minute equaliser from the Wanderers to the joy of the home side.

Result: 2-all draw

Perth Glory v Newcastle Jets

Perth will be spewing that crumbled after leading City at half time, they won’t let the same thing happen this time around. And unfortunately for the Jets, a Perth away game at the start of the season has one clear result: Perth wins.

Result: Glory win 2-0
