CRANKING NWSL – ROUND TWO

CRANKING NWSL.jpgThis round was full of watching half matches and stunning displays. So here’s a quick break down of the bits and drabs I caught. Because who doesn’t love a scattered weekly wrap up??

North Carolina Courage 5 – 0 Orlando Pride
Wednesday’s game. Death game. Literally. NCC turned it up in the second half and Pride just had no idea how to handle. What do you do when players are literally dancing in front of your defensive line and there’s no one able to take the ball off them? You lose five – nil. Sorry guys.

Chicago Red Stars 4 – 4 Portland Thorns
I knew this would be a good game. But when I’m driving half the state during the weekend I just struggle to wake up early for matches. This one was such a cracker that my pre-wake up check on twitter coinciding with half time, seeing the score woke me up proper and had me tune in for the second half. It didn’t disappoint. Who leaves Sinc free in the box?! And Kerr. Deadly.

Sky Blue 0 – 1 Houston Dash
My heart. I watch the first hour and it was so so close for the noobs of Sky Blue to get something out of this. Stupidly my hope was placed on them getting points only for my bubble to burst when I checked the score during church. Mate. We try again next time hey. But also Kristy Mewis on the pitch is beyond lovely.

Utah Royals 1 – 0 Washington Spirit
Haven’t watched any part of this game yet, but the crowd was a whopping 18 thousand. So. Good things here.

Seattle Reign 1 – 1 Orlando Pride
Firstly. Absolute worldie by Kennedy. Secondly. Betos with a jaw dropping save five minutes left to keep the result at one all. Only problem is the defence and keeper Pride have and they seem to be speaking a different language. It hurts to watch, at least they weren’t exposed due to this fault. So the small things.
